Artist Statement::

As a curious young teen, I remember carrying around a Kodak disc camera taking snapshots. Ever since then, I have been viewing the world through the lens and have never been able to put down a camera. Although, I am a professional Graphic Designer, I have always felt intrinsically tied to photography. I have a keen interest in photographing weathered & aged subjects consisting of typographic and industrial elements that create new & interesting compositions. I enjoy capturing what most people overlook in the hidden beauty of everyday urban landscapes. My work can be described as blemished, abstract, typographic, vibrant, urban grunge in a tightly-cropped, uniquely captured format.

Bio::

Currently, I work full-time as an Art Director in the field of custom trade publications. Each month, I research, hire and art direct national photographers for photo shoots. I also concept and hire national illustrators to create illustrations. In addition, I have many other duties, but there are too many to list here.

For the past few years, I have enjoyed living in Northeast Minneapolis. I prefer living close to downtown, being immersed in such a artistic part of the city and having many photo opportunities just steps from my door.

Years ago, when I attended UW-Stout, I took one photography course and received an A. My professor said that I was one of the top students in the class. I think I still have some of those old black and white photos in my basement.

When I was approximately 21 years old, I bought my first SLR, the Canon Rebel S II with my Best Buy employee discount. After I had my first experiences looking behind the lens, I was immediately hooked and have viewed the world differently ever since.

As an early teen, I remember carrying along my Canon disc camera on our family adventure to California where I took snapshots of our trip. Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, the Pacific Ocean for the first time, the dingy motel rooms and of course, Disney Land. Even back then at that early age, I was acutely observing my surroundings and experiences.
